Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience working with children under 2 years of age in a group setting.
Must be physically able to interact with children in a manner that meets their needs.
Preferred Qualifications A Child Development Associate (CDA) or Associate’s degree in early childhood or closely related field.
A current CDA certificate or Associate degree transcript must be attached.
Job Description Responsible for assisting teacher in providing quality childcare by assisting in planning, developing and implementing a developmental program for children.
Job Duties Classroom Duties- Learns to assist in planning and implementing daily curriculum according to developmentally appropriate practices and understand the principles of responsive caregiving.
Develops a well-articulated philosophy regarding child learning, social-emotional development, and positive guidance.
Curriculum: Learns how to develop and implement emergent and anti-bias curriculum daily with integrated interest/learning areas.
Assessment: Learns how to perform observations, record anecdotal notes, and to take photographs and videos of child development in classroom to be used in coordination with assessment tool for intentional planning and reporting.
Inclusive program: enrolled children come from a variety of backgrounds, family structures, languages, abilities, and special needs.
Assist in fully including children into classrooms with a variety of developmental needs creating a strong classroom community.
Learns best practices in a model early childhood learning environment.
Follows classroom routine based on curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices.
Learns to establish individual and group goals in coordination with families.
Observes family conferences and assists with sharing progress reports three times per year.
Lab Students: Assist in mentoring university students by guiding, supporting, and describing appropriate behaviors and effective practices to students connecting theory to practice.
Assists in the supervision of indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety.
Student Workers: Assist in directing student employees to assist with supervising indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety.
Follow policies regarding conducting research to assist faculty/students with data collection.
Assumes the responsibility of classroom oversight in the absence of a (or the) teacher.
Maintains a respectful, supportive, and professional demeanor and contributes to an inviting and supportive work environment.
Administers first aid and compassionate care to children as needed.
Completes required training and education hours.
Maintains required credentials.
Additional Information to Applicants Staff must past criminal history check and be first aide certified.
CDC staff are given priority ranking on the enrollment waitlist and once employed for 6 months, staff receive a 20% discount on childcare tuition.
