25/hour *Employment Status:* Part-Time/Seasonal *Dept:* Parks and Recreation *FSLA Classification:* Non-Exempt *Reports to:* Camp Supervisors *Closing Date:* May 26th or until filled *Age Restriction: *16 by date of hire *JOB SUMMARY* Our summer camps are seeking energetic, responsible Camp Counselors to provide a safe, healthy, and positive experience for campers.
Duties include leading campers through activities, managing transitions, encouraging healthy habits, and housekeeping duties.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent multitasker, with a genuine compassion for children and the environment.
Applicants should be patient, and willing to learn new skills and complies to all park rules and regulations.
*CAMP SEASON:* *Blue Hole Nature Camp* * Blue Hole Nature Camp is a weekly day camp program that the Wimberley Parks and Recreation Department provides to the nature-conscious youth of the community.
Our mission is to get kids out in nature and experience the Texas Hill Country in new and unique ways! Campers will learn camping skills, explore native Texas wildlife and their habitats, local flora and fauna, conserving our natural resources, and of course traditional camp games like archery and team-building activities! * Weekly May 27, 2024 – August 9, 2024.
(Monday - Friday / no weekends) * Hours: 7:30am – 3:30pm.
*Wimberley Summer Camp* * Wimberley Summer Camp is designed to provide children aged 6 to 12 with a safe and engaging environment where they can explore, learn, and create lasting memories.
With a wide range of activities and a team of dedicated counselors, every day promises new experiences and opportunities for growth.
* Weekly June 3rd, 2024 – August 2, 2024.
(Monday - Friday / no weekends) * Hours: 7:30am – 3:30pm.
*QUALIFICATIONS:* * Experiences working with young children and leading activities.
* Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills * Knowledge of public Parks and Recreation policies and procedures.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Supervises campers at a 10:1 ratio.
* Performs housekeeping duties such as encouraging heathy habits, cleaning and disinfecting pavilion restrooms, supplies, and equipment.
* Complies and ensures compliance of all Nature Camp rules and regulations.
* Builds a trusting relationship between parents and camp staff.
* Ability to lead and inspire campers.
* Ability to make decisions and judgments based on policies and procedures.
