This is a SCE (At Risk program) position, to provide supplemental instructional leadership and support classroom practices to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program throughout the district.
To provide supplemental support to help students from low-income families acquire the knowledge and skills in the state content standards and to meet the state student performance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Valid Texas Principal certificate.
Minimum of three years’ successful experience as a classroom teacher in public education a proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies.
Minimum of two years’ successful campus administrative experience in public education, preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and management ability.
Strong organizational, communication, and inter-/intrapersonal skills Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation Knowledge of the district curriculum and district initiatives/programs Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners Knowledge and training in application of research-based teaching methods and learning strategies Knowledge of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies and student learning styles related to the unique learning needs of all students including those of special populations Knowledge and skills in the use of technology as a resource tool for accessing and analyzing data for determining appropriate interventions and supports to campuses Demonstrated ability to interpret district and campus data for determining corrective interventions associated with instructional decisions and programming which impact teacher instruction and student performance Demonstrated evidence of flexible thinking and willingness to accept new ideas and constructive feedback for personal, professional and program growth and development Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with all stakeholders for ensuring improvement in both instructional performance and academic achievement (teaching and learning) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may deem appropriate.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Staff Development Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and instructional Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels.
Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
Improve teacher quality through the application of coaching skills for classroom practices and instructional strategies.
Provide support to campuses through data-driven professional development and on-site technical assistance with identified campuses and/or staff.
Instructional & Program Management Work cooperatively with executive directors, directors, and campus principals in developing and supervising instructional programs throughout the district.
Design, support, and implement professional learning opportunities coordinated with both district and state standards.
Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all content area programs and related curriculum and instructional documents and materials, including instructional guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
Oversee campus and district assessment opportunities and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
Through the provision of coaching and mentoring, assist teachers to master the fundamentals of classroom practice and instructional strategies contributing to student achievement.
Evaluate the curriculum and instructional program effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
Curriculum Development Lead the design and development of research-based interventions and enrichments to support the written curriculum Assist school and district administrators in the implementation of RtI programming Collaborate with curriculum team members to create and revise curriculum, assessment, intervention, and enrichment documents Support the District’s Teaching and Learning philosophy by modeling the use of intervention and enrichment activities to support the success of all students Personnel Management Assist with the selection, training, evaluation, and supervision of instructional staff (as assigned) and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
Assist in performance appraisals of assigned staff (depends on which staff with IDEA) Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner Other Convey information to parent and community members about school programs.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
