Ground Water Treatment Operator
JOB SUMMARY: The Groundwater Treatment Operator while observing all safety regulations, addresses all needed maintenance for all components of ground water treatment plants, booster stations, chlorination equipment, storage facilities, check valves, pressure vessels, PR valves, flow meters, site gauges, and proper installation of equipment.
Monitors and adjusts chlorination equipment, maintains chlorine residuals in system and makes necessary process changes in order to maintain TCEQ compliance.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: An extensive background in water plant maintenance and repair and extensive knowledge of TWC’s water supply system.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Requirements include extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would be acquired in two years of technical school.
A high school/GED is required for certification and licensing, and between three to five years of related experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: A valid Texas Driver's License and a minimum Class “C” Ground Water certification is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all components of ground water equipment, including PR valves, motors, vessels, etc.
Replace and/or repair any components associated with the ground water facilities, booster stations or distribution system
Prepare field work orders for all repairs and replacements
Locate interconnecting distribution systems to map PR valve locations
Setup and maintain safety controls on equipment for all ground water facilities and distribution system
Troubleshoot all ground water related equipment
Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical activities include lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions; position requires the transport of and use of heavy weight equipment, tools and materials.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Works approximately 10% of time in temperature controlled environment conducting administrative duties.
Works approximately 90% outside and therefore may result in exposure to various environmental factors, which include undesirable weather conditions, mechanical hazards, fumes and odors, excessive noise levels, electrical hazards, dust, mud, confined spaces, poison ivy, chemical hazards, and animal/insect hazards.
