Essential Duties:
Plan work schedules to meet all production requirements.
Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, recommend and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the assistant warden, operations and coordinated with the human resources supervisor prior to implementation.
Create time reports and record all staff and offenders assigned to the laundry.
Supervise operation of laundry equipment; perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment.
Perform tests on wash formula.
May perform various laundry duties which require lifting, bending, squatting, and long periods of standing.
Push and pull laundry carts.
Perform security functions including “pat” and “strip” searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
Three (3) years full-time, wage-earning correctional, commercial, or institutional laundry experience.
Thirty (30) semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) or by the United Stated Department of Education (USDE) or equivalent trade school courses in the field of culinary, hotel, or restaurant management may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience on a year-for-year basis for a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
Two (2) full years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass TDCJ approved annual background check.
