PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Ride buses and assist driver to provide safe and orderly transportation of students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal instruction and communicate effectively
Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment
Ability to work well with children
Experience:
Experience preferred but not required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assist in loading and unloading of students according to their individual needs.
Maintain discipline and report student discipline problems to the appropriate administrator.
Assume responsibilities for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
Communicate with teachers and parents on a daily basis about student behavior while on the bus.
Follow emergency procedures and help driver administer first aid, if necessary.
Stay current with Special Needs training.
Operate equipment according to established safety procedures.
Regular attendance; must be willing and able to report to work at the designated work site on a regular daily basis according to established work schedule.
Help driver keep bus clean.
Assist substitute drivers with route directions and student stop locations.
Comply with district policy and procedure.
Perform other duties and repsonsibilities as assignedby the supervisor.
Duties may include driving a district vehicle to include cars, suburban for the purposes of student transportation and other operational duties.

Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control, ability to communicate effectively, ability to maintain effective control over groups of students.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying.
Moderate lifting (over 40 lbs.
), bending, stooping, climbing, and turning of the head and shoulders.
Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts and vehicles; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (hot) and vehicle fumes.
School district employees may be required to work from home and use their personal electronic devices.
