We are looking for an energetic, fun, and organized individual to JOIN TEAM KYLE! Kyle 2024 Spring Break Camp will be 1-week camp from March 18th- 22nd Monday – Friday 7:45am – 5:00 pm.
The camp allows the ages of entering 1st grade to entering 9th grade.
The camp will be located indoors at the KRUG Center and outdoors at Mary-Kyle Hartson Square Park.
The camp is filled with tons of awesome active activities, water games, and crafts.
**PLEASE NOTE ** The Spring Break Camp seasonal position has the possibility to lead into a Summer Camp seasonal position upon formal employee review.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Implement programs and activities for the Day Camp, under the supervision of the Head Counselor, Assistant Camp Director, or Recreation Coordinator.
Proper implementation of safety protocol and procedures at all times including but not limited to all City of Kyle facilities and off-site field trips.
Must be able to get into a pool to supervisor and monitor campers and at least 2 times a week.
Attend all required training, meetings, and in-services scheduled by the Parks & Recreation Director, Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinator, or Assistant Camp Director throughout the season.
Maintain positive interpersonal relations among everyone involved in the Camp program including children, parents, school staff, Recreation Coordinator, Assistant Camp Director, and other camp counselors.
Be available for fellow camp counselors in times of emergencies.
Oversee the enforcement of camp rules & regulations at all times, proper documentation and reporting issues to supervisors.
Follow the daily and weekly schedule of activities for the camp.
Participate in all scheduled activities including, but not limited to: swimming, gym games, and outdoor activities.
Kyle Spring Break Camp must be able to work the scheduled hours of 6:15 am – 6:00 pm.
Must be able to work Monday-Friday with some weekend trainings required.
Perform all other duties as duly assigned by the Parks & Recreation Director, Recreation Manager, Recreation Coordinator, and Assistant Camp Director.
PREFFERED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used at the Day Camps.
Knowledge of child development, what to expect of children in different situations, and group management techniques.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Ability to plan and supervise the work of paid staff and volunteers.
Ability to remain calm and act resourcefully in an emergency and in stressful situations.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Skill in monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
Judgement and decision-making skills.
Preferred seasonal job continuation into our Summer Camp.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 21 years of age and have graduated from high school or obtained a GED equivalent.
One (1) year professional experience in childcare and/or youth recreation programs preferred, but not required.
Must possess or be able to obtain a certification in Adult and Child CPR & Standard First Aid.
(Before hire) Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas Driver's License.
