*Job Description-Teacher * Job Title: Teacher Responsibility Level: Non-Supervisory FLSA Status: Exempt Department Name: C & I Reports to: Campus Principal Job Status: Full Time Pay Grade: See Salary Scale Funding Source: 420 Split-Funded Position: No Source of Funds: 420 Percent of Allocation: 100% Federally-Funded Positions: NA Time Distribution Requirements Semi-Annual (Periodic) Certification: Not Required Personnel Activity Report (PAR): Not Required Position Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; Must hold a Texas certification in the subject to be taught or applicable generalist certification or be "Highly Qualified" and enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program.
At least one-year student teaching or approved internship.
Job Specifications and Requirements Certifications and Licenses • Texas certification in the subject to be taught or applicable generalist certification.
• ESL Certification highly preferred.
• GT Certification highly preferred.
Skills and Abilities • Ability to understand oral and written instruction • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others • Working computer knowledge and the ability to use a variety of software programs • Above average leadership and interpersonal skills • Strong communication skills Position Summary Classroom teachers provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill campus expectations in alignment with appropriate pacing guide(s).
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles as well as various levels of rigor appropriate for student success.
• Present subject according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Work cooperatively with other members of the staff as needed to determine instructional goals, curriculum objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Work cooperatively with special education teachers as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Be a positive role model for students; support the core values of the school district.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and the emotional development of students.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and campus expectations.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
• Keep informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, unit meetings, PLC meetings and serve on staff committees as required, • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Minor Job Duties and Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned Additional Responsibilities CTE Teacher Only • Teaches content and skills in job readiness, job preparation, job retention and success at work utilizing a career and technology course of study adopted by the SWPS administration.
The CTE teacher uses a syllabus for each course.
• Actively seek and establish industry partners that provide experiential/career preparation opportunities within our chosen Programs of Study.
• Provides job development by consulting with employers and developing job opportunities.
Develop job seeking skills in students to assist in the transition from high school to the job market.
• Coordinates enrollment into class and job activities to ensure proper coding into PEIMS.
Additional Responsibilities Physical Education Teacher Only.
• Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual/team sports to students in grades 3-12, and assist in other programs as assigned.
• Coordinate and conduct physical fitness assessment as required (Fitnessgram) Partnerships and Communication • Initiate and maintain consistent communication and develop constructive partnerships with families communicating about student progress and ways the families can support the student while at home • Initiate and maintain consistent communication and develop constructive partnerships with community members and agencies, building on their strengths and recognizing them as co- educators Professional Growth and Development • Establish and maintain a Professional Growth & Development Plan with the principal to ensure goals and objectives remain at the forefront of the teaching experience.
Pursue professional development in needed areas Working Conditions • Maintain emotional control under stress • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing is required • Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment • Must be able to frequently walk up and downstairs • At times, must be able to lift 25 pounds to a height of five (5) feet repeatedly Reasonable Accommodations Statement To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily.
