Job Overview:
The billing specialist is an in-office position.
They will have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
They will use various methods and processes of coding, verifying, balancing, and reconciling accounting records.
Basic mathematical principles, customer service skills, and great computer skills are required.
They will work cross-functionally with key partners in our corporate office and client leadership to effectively achieve or exceed goals and produce outcomes in line with the company’s vision.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Primary responsibilities are to review and validate data to create customer invoices according to company practices, submit invoices to customers, and ensure all customer payments are properly posted and accounted for.
Responsible for researching, analyzing, processing, and resolving customer disputes, minimizing bad debt exposure, and recovering funds for company.
Effectively support AR team to meet quarterly/monthly objectives set to improve measurements quarter to quarter and year to year as well as provide guidance and direction to team members to optimize collections and manage first level escalations on customer dispute issues.
Work closely with the AP and AR team.
Conduct research on difficult and complex inquiries and assist with audits.
Able to display strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Must be self-motivated and organized, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
Uses independent judgement and discretion when carrying out duties.
Maintain all established spreadsheets; ensure compliance with company metrics; maintain all required files/records.
Respond to vendor and customer inquiries in a professional, courteous manner, both efficiently and timely.
Provide information within scope of role and assignment and perform special projects.
Collect and compile statistical and financial data as directed.
Follow all company policies and procedures.
Skills/Requirements:
Undergraduate or Associate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field, or commensurate experience.
Must have prior experience in a similar role.
Effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepancies.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Strong Excel spreadsheet skills; proficiency in MS Office suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented and a can-do attitude.
Ability to work on a team and independently.
Self-starter with initiative to learn new skills.
Positive work ethic.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability and desire to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with accounting department and other colleagues.
Experience with Sage preferred.
This is an in-office position - no remote or hybrid options available.
Hourly Rate: $20-$23/hour, DOE
